Cellulite

Cellulite is primarily a skin condition as it has less to do with weight and more with skin elasticity, fat cells and hormones. Cellulite is your subcutaneous body fat, which, due to collagen fibres, has either broken down or grown too taut or too lax. These collagen fibres connect the skin to the underlying muscles. The accumulation of fat cells pushing up against the skin as the fibers work to pull the skin down can cause the skin to look ‘dimpled’ hence why cellulite is sometimes to referred to as the ‘orange peel effect’.

Hormonal changes e.g. pregnancy, menopause and age etc can also play a part in the development of cellulite as hormones help regulate lymphatic drainage, blood flow, connective tissue and fat. Cellulite can be graded depending on the severity of the condition which can be explored during consultation to ensure we get the best result for you. While diet and exercise can impact some areas affected by cellulite, many parts of the body are immune. Thankfully here at Perfect Skin Solutions, we can offer various treatments to help target your cellulite.

Our key treatment solution for all grades of cellulite is the Award-Winning Lipofirm PRO. This revolutionary machine combines fat-destroying ultrasonic cavitation with skin-tightening radio frequency. It can be used on all areas where cellulite may be found. A course of 8 sessions is recommended although a shorter course may be adequate for lower grades of cellulite.

Mesotherapy has been used to treat cellulite for almost 60 years and is growing in popularity in the UK. This involves microinjections of vitamins and minerals including fat-destroying ingredients, directly into affected areas.

FAQ

Are these products safe?

We make sure both Lipofirm Pro and mesotherapy are carried out in a safe way, they have been used for years to reduce cellulite and are clinically proven to be both safe and effective.

Mesotherapy is more a principle of treatment; delivering key nutritional elements such as vitamins, directly to the area of concern. Therefore, the primary consideration in regard to safety is the product which is being injected. Here at Perfect Skin Solutions we only use the products from Toskani, which is one of the most internationally recognised Mesotherapy and medical cosmetic firms. Mesotherapy has been around for over 60 years and is practised in countries around the world, including the U.K., France, Switzerland, Belgium, the United States and several South American nations. We avoid certain applications of mesotherapy where strong evidence of efficacy and/or safety is lacking, or because we already offer highly effective alternative treatments.

Will my cellulite be reduced?

Our treatments can provide spectacular results in reducing cellulite, you will need to work with us and follow our aftercare.

Results vary depending on your body type and the areas being treated. On average, patients notice visible improvement in two to four sessions.

Are the treatments painful?

Not much. With Lipofirm Pro you may feel heat and a prickling sensation. The DMA (Dynamic Muscle Activation) technology is unique and you will feel your muscles contracting. You may have some bruising after the treatment. With Mesotherapy you may feel a slight pinching or burning sensation when the injections are administered. Bear in mind that injections are very superficial; being just under the skin so normally the patient can relax in relative comfort during the entire treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Aside from the possibility of some bruising, which generally resolves over one week, the risk of side effects is extremely low. To speed up the healing process, we recommend that the homoeopathic remedy, arnica, be applied topically on a daily basis. Patients may experience temporary soreness. This will subside within 24-48 hours.

Do I need to do anything post treatment?

Please avoid caffeine and other stimulants in the 12 hours prior to your treatment.
Please avoid heavy foods for 24-48 hours post-treatment and alcohol for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
Body brushing at home can help with results and the healthier your body is, the better the long-term results will be. (with Mesotherapy please wait 24-48hrs after treatment before body brushing again)
Drink plenty of water for at least 72 hours post-treatment to aid fat removal from your body.

I have a pacemaker, can I have Lipofirm Pro?

Lipofirm Pro has been proven in clinical trials and the treatment is safe and effective on all skin types. However, it is not possible to have this treatment if you have a pacemaker fitted.
