EnerPeel

We are proud to offer EnerPeel® as our primary medical range of chemical peels that we use in our clinic. Due to its clever patented carrier ingredient that allows greater absorption of the peel while reducing skin surface redness and peeling by up to 50%, EnerPeel® offers minimal downtime and fantastic results.

Mandelic Acid (MA)

EnerPeel® MA is a peel that exfoliates but with minimal or no erythema (redness). It can be left on for 2-10 minutes (depending on number of previous peels and patient reaction) and then neutralised but for greater remodelling impact, we will leave it on the skin and send you home with a neutralizer wipe to use that evening.

Indications

  • Erythematic Telangiectatic Rosacea
  • Summer peels
  • Darker skin types
  • Anti-ageing
  • Skin remodelling
  • Inflammatory pigmentation
  • Hormonal, sun and age related pigmentations in at risk clients

Salicylic Acid (SA)

Designed for the treatment of  acne, this peel contains active ingredients from Tebiskin® OSK creams within the peel. These unique ingredients deliver a high dose of anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and sebum and cell turnover-slowing ingredients into the pilosebaceous duct, combined with salicylic acid to reduce oil, exfoliate and open up the duct opening. It is also used for controlling the inflammatory phase of papules and pustules. We can also use this on back and chest.

Indications

  • Active acne
  • Inflamed skin
  • Very oily skin
  • Texture
  • Back and chest can be treated
  • Pore refining

Pyruvic Acid (PA)

This skin remodelling peel is the next most active acid to a TCA but with a much greater safety profile. It is a gentle, but highly effective anti-ageing medical-grade peel treatment, addressing multiple signs of ageing including open pores and pigmentation. As a keto acid, it has a sebum slowing effect like the beta hydroxyl acid Salicylic acid, but it penetrates much deeper than the Salicylic acid (SA). In acne cases, after EnerPeel® Salicylic acid has improved the acne, PA peels can be very useful for post-acne damage and oiliness.

Indications

  • Seborrhoea (excess oil)
  • Photo-ageing on Neck, Décolleté, Cleavage Lines
  • Loose skin, skin tightening
  • Actinic Keratosis, Photo-Ageing, Stretch Marks (red)
  • Open Pores
  • Alternative to our Salicylic Acid peel in aspirin-allergic patients

Eyes and Lips (EL)

We have a special peel for around the eyes and lips. This consists of TCA which usually would be too strong for these areas. However, the Enerpeel® EL is a uniquely engineered gel-peel formulation which is layered onto the areas of concern. Each layer increases the strength of the treatment, allowing the practitioner to tailor the application to the patient. It is useful for dark eye circles, smoker’s/kiss lines above the lips and much more.

Indications

  • Photo-ageing of Peri Orbital and Peri Oral Areas
  • Anti-ageing of Peri Orbital and Peri Oral Areas
  • Lines and wrinkles of Peri Orbital and Peri Oral Areas
  • Dark circles and under eye bags
  • Crow’s feet of Peri Orbital area
  • Pout lines of Oral area
  • Un-even skin tone & pigmentation of Peri Orbital and Peri Oral Areas

Jessner’s (JR)

A true all-rounder, EnerPeel® JR is a revised Jessner’s peel named after the inventor and contains a cocktail of 3 acids; 15% Salicylic Acid, 20% Lactic Acid, 14% Resorcinol. Lactic acid and resorcinol components are extremely useful for hormonal, age and sun related pigmentation.

Resorcinol interrupts the process of pigment formation by ‘attracting’ the enzyme tyrosinase to it and preventing it from converting tyrosine to melanin. Lactic acid also slows down the activity of the enzyme and so adds to the pigment reducing action and the exfoliation helps to remove existing pigmentation. The salicylic acid removes and penetrates oil which increases the penetration for the other two components. This peel is normally applied for up to 5 minutes but it is not neutralised and is just removed with a remover wipe or using water dampened cotton pads at 5 minutes. This is because the salicylic will have deactivated itself and we want the other two ingredients in the skin to continue to work on the pigmentation.

Indications

  • Actinic Keratosis, Melasma/Lentigo
  • Non inflammatory Hyper pigmentation
  • Photo-ageing

TCA (Trichloroacetic acid)

EnerPeel® TCA 25% is a medium to deep acting remodelling solution. Delivered within an EnerPeel® carrier solution; it is taken deep into the skin before being released to increase the dermal effect on promoting maximum fibre development, whilst also stimulating old fibre matrix breakdown. Thus, bound fibres causing wrinkles and lines can be replaced by a more mobile fluid collagen-elastin matrix, resulting in visibly smoother and flatter skin. We also aim to better control epidermal trauma and erythema (redness) through reducing the TCA’s activity at the surface.

Indications

  • Ice-Pick Scars
  • Photo-ageing
  • Other scarring
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Excessive pore size

Aftercare

Post Treatment Expectations

  • Your skin is likely to feel tight for up to 24 hours post treatment
  • Skin redness may occur and should subside 24 hours post treatment
  • Light skin peeling may occur 1–3 days post treatment and can last for 3-5 days. It is possible that you may have no peeling or flaking. If there is not peeling or flaking this does not mean that the peel is not working

Post Treatment Aftercare

  • Avoid physical activity until the following day.
  • Avoid heat treatments e.g. hot baths or showers, sauna and steam rooms for 24 hours post treatment
  • Avoid using exfoliating products including those containing retinol or glycolic acid for 7 days post treatment
  • After most chemical peels you should be ok to apply your usual makeup the following day unless advised otherwise
  • Apply a physical-SPF daily. Your practitioner can recommend one suited to your skin type

Please note, the above aftercare is just a guide. Full aftercare advice will be given to you when you attend your appointment with us.

FAQ

Before any treatment, a consultation takes place to determine the correct treatment plan for you.

Each procedure is generally 25-30 minutes. This will include an assessment of the skin, pictures, the peel procedure and aftercare instructions.

Peels generally produce a temporary warm tingling sensation which passes quickly.

Depending on your specific skin type and problem, you may see results after one peel but the course is designed to work over 3 months so it is then when you will see the optimum effect.

ENERPEEL® Technology

ENERPEEL® is the peel brand of choice in many of the UK’s leading private skin clinics. ENERPEEL® are a form of chemical peels that focus on achieving activity inside the skin rather than on the skin surface, so the emphasis is on remodelling, restructuring, rejuvenating, reducing sun and age damage and controlling skin problems such as acne, rosacea, thread veins, pigmentation problems and many others. Surface activity is limited and controlled by only releasing the full effect of the ingredients once they have been absorbed across the stratum corneum. This is a unique mechanism. Also, restraining the active peel components in a carrier solution allows greater levels of absorption of the active ingredients across the stratum corneum.

Carrier Technology

ENERPEEL® is a carrier solution which restrains the key ingredients and their strength of activity and can be adjusted to release the ingredients at the desired skin depth for maximal results. However, this is not a buffered peel. This mechanism of action minimises surface trauma which can cause reddening, frosting, peeling and downtime, but maximises the activity in the skin to promote improved skin structure and function. Ultimately, the ENERPEEL® system aims to correct many skin issues efficiently and far more effectively than standard peels by triggering gene expression of matrix remodelling components.

Peels Tailored for the Individual Skin Need

The 10 different ENERPEEL® systems contain specific ingredient combinations to target the active treatment components to each individual skin condition. This includes supplementing the skin with the specific skin condition treating ingredients. For example, the antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and oil-reducing agents which slow down oil production and reduce inflammation, alongside Salicylic Acid which removes debris and surface oil and opens up blocked hair follicle ducts in the treatment of acne.

ENERPEEL® is boosted and supported by the TEBISKIN cytoceuticals (cyto – focusing on optimising the activity of cells) which prepare the skin and promote even greater results by maximising the effect of the peels and the response of the key cells within the skin:

Gene Expression and Enzyme Activation

ENERPEEL® has been scientifically proven to successfully and significantly activate the skin-remodelling enzymes, such as zymogen which is converted to MMP, necessary for complete remodelling. Clinical studies show that an ENERPEEL® based solution does this more effectively than the same ingredients delivered by a standard solution. ENERPEEL® also increases the activity of enzymes which produce key skin ingredients such as hyaluronic acid.

ENERPEEL® systems are supported by research and results from clinical trials. We have specific treatment protocols for every skin condition; from acne to rosacea, from dark eyes to loose skin, and from cellulite to thread veins. All protocols have been properly researched and evaluated by leading dermatological research centres across Europe.

EnerPeel® JR is a specially modified Jessner’s solution (from the name of the American dermatologist who popularised this combination) and utilises a beta and an alpha hydroxy acid combined with resorcinol, a phenol derivative: all delivered using the EnerPeel® Carrier Molecule technology.

Enerpeel® JR treats hyperpigmentation, Actinic keratosis, Hyperkeratosis, Chrono and Photo ageing. EnerPeel® utilises unique carrier molecules which bind to all the active ingredients, holding them in check (not active) on contact and only on absorption are the active ingredients released which means you will have little to no downtime and no obvious signs that you have had a chemical peel; this is something our customers love.

This means the key resorcinol and lactic acid ingredients, which slow down pigment production and remove existing pigment in skin cells, reach the melanocytes (pigment containing cells) and exert a powerful pigment control effect. These peels are supported by keeping the resorcinol levels high utilising Tebiskin Lightening cream which also contains three other pigment reducing ingredients and is comparable in effect to a 4% hydroquinone  but does not contain any hydroquinone or any derivatives of hydroquinone.

We have adopted one of our scar management protocols directly from one of the world’s foremost authorities on acne and scar treatment, Professor Chou. Although most types of scars respond very well to the DermapenFNS device alone, certain scars will need more. With box scars and ice-pick scars, we employ DermapenFNS combined with an EnerPeel® TCA CROSS (Chemical Reconstruction Of Skin Scars). The 40% TCA in an Enerpeel carrier solution is delivered into the scar ‘hole’ and causes the scar to scab over and the ‘hole’ fills with scar tissue. The scar tissue can then be revised using dermal needling. (See also Chemical Peel FAQ on how Enerpeels work). Needling the skin just prior to the TCA CROSS initiates skin matrix degradation and rebuilding and then only needling is repeated after four to six weeks.

Scars which are tethered or depressed (due to being held down by adhesions or ‘tethers’) will not respond without releasing the scar tissue from its ‘tethers’ allowing the skin to lift and flatten. Thus, subcision is the standard practice before needling these scars and delivers excellent results. See separate FAQ on this.
