Eye Surgery

An upper blepharoplasty only takes an hour and can be done under local anaesthetic in our CQC registered surgery. You will need to be collected after surgery by someone.

Downtime for upper blepharoplasties is approximately 1 week, where you can expect swelling and bruising. Thereafter, there will be minimal bruising and you can resume wearing makeup and your normal activities.

After surgery, you will be given an antibiotic ointment to treat the area for the following 2 weeks; and be advised to apply a cold compress to the area every few hours for a couple of days, to help lessen post-operative swelling and bruising. A follow-up appointment with your surgeon, to remove your stitches and review your results and recovery takes place around 7 days after blepharoplasty surgery at Perfect Skin Solutions clinic.

The correction of ptosis is a surgical procedure conducted under a local anaesthetic and tightens the eye’s levator muscle. This can be performed on either or both eyes. The incision and the post-operative stitches are made in the eyelid crease, so no scarring will be visible once the eyelid is healed.

After surgery, you will be given an antibiotic ointment to treat the area for the following week; and be advised to apply a cold compress to the area every few hours to help lessen post-operative swelling and bruising.

Recovery can take around 7 days and you will have a follow-up appointment for a review.

Entropion and Ectropion can occur in one or both eyes and can both be an uncomfortable condition.

Entropion is where the eyelid (usually the lower eyelid) turns inwards towards the eye, so that your eyelashes rub against your eyeball. It can be caused by muscle spasm, inflammation or scarring.

Ectropion is the opposite whereby the eyelid (again, usually the lower eyelid), turns outwards away from the eye. This exposes the surface of the inner eyelid and makes it prone to infection; the drooping eyelid can become sore, red and infected; or the eye might water excessively or feel gritty and dry.

A chalazion is a benign cyst on the eyelid that can be skin-coloured and hard to the touch, or red and swollen. The meibomian glands make the lipid in your tears that lubricates the eye and prevents dry eye/evaporation. These oil glands can get blocked, which causes an inflammation (a chalazion).

They are often mistaken for styes. A stye is a painful red abscess filled with pus, and is often caused by a bacterial infection at the root of an eyelash.

Chalazions and styes can sometimes go away on their own but if they are causing distress or are proving stubborn, chalazions and styes can be surgically drained under local anaesthetic in a simple procedure. The surgical incision is made on the inside of the eyelid, so any scar will be hidden. The procedure can be completed on the same day as your consultation.
