Facial Volume Loss
Facial Volume Loss is an inevitable part of ageing and generally affects the middle and upper parts of the face such as the temples, cheeks and eye area leaving the face looking deflated, tired and more aged. There are deep fat compartments on the face which anchor the skin. Early on in the ageing process, these compartments start slipping downwards, resulting in the overlying skin to lose its support.
The skin therefore moves downwards causing sagging in the face as well resulting in under eye defects such as hollows or bags, nasolabial folds and flattening of the upper cheeks. After some years, further compartment slippage occurring lower in the face will result in Marionette lines and jowls. Mid/lower cheeks can also appear sunken giving an unhealthy or aged look to the face.
